[+]
Grace Wyndham Goldie had been a teacher, then a radio critic before joining the BBC in 1948 as a radio producer. She then went to work for BBC television and would eventually become the first woman to head a BBC television production department. In 1950 she produced the first television general results programme and over the next ten years oversaw the development in political coverage on television. Goldie was involved in the improved election results coverage, the first television party political broadcasts and launched a number of current affairs programmes. Panorama, Tonight and Monitor are just three of the influential series launched by Grace Wyndham Goldie.
